Former European Champs Slovenia and Hungary to light up Andorra Qualifier

ESCALDES-ENGORDANY (FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup 2018) - Seventeen teams from 14 countries will compete in the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup Andorra Qualifier 2018 on June 23-24.

The teams were allocated to the various qualifiers based on the world’s FIBA 3x3 Federation Ranking.

Europe Cup 2016 winners Slovenia (men) and Hungary (women) will once again participate in the Andorra Qualifier, as it has been the case both in 2016 and 2017. Two years ago, both had won the Andorra Qualifier on their way to win the whole thing in Bucharest.

Slovenia are up to a challenge with World Cup 2017 runner-ups Netherlands and Europe Cup 2017 bronze medalists Ukraine.

Hungary will be put to the test too with a potential encounter with Europe Cup 2017 runner-ups Spain.

Participating teams:

Men: Slovenia, Ukraine, Netherlands, Andorra, Czech Republic, Hungary, Switzerland & Greece.

Women: Hungary, Italy, Andorra, Spain, Latvia, Estonia, Serbia, Azerbaijan & Greece.

It's the third consecutive time that Andorra hosts a Europe Cup Qualifier. 

The 8 men's teams are divided into 2 pools of 4, and the 9 women's teams in 1 pool of 4 and 1 pool of 5 and seeded automatically based on the April 1, 2018 3x3 Federation Ranking.

All teams play every other in their respective pools. In the men's competition, the two first teams from each pool advance to the semi-finals. The winner of each semi-final advances to the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup. The semi-finals losers will play a game for the final qualification slot. In the women's competition, pool winners qualify directly to the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup 2018. The 2nd and 3rd placed teams will play a semi-final against the 2nd and 3rd placed teams from the other pool. Winners of these semi-finals are also qualified for the Europe Cup 2018.
