ALGIERS (African Youth Games) - Mali men and women teams bagged gold at the African Youth Games on Sunday evening after beating Egypt and Nigeria 13-9 and 21-5 in that order at the Complexe Ghermoul 1er Mai in the Algerian capital.
Mali, who are also the reigning African 3x3 champions in the women's senior category, have continued showing why they are the 3x3 basketball queens in Africa following an unbeaten run in the youth competition this weekend.
Egypt joined Mali and Nigeria on the podium after seeing off hosts Algeria 20-8 in the third place playoff to complete the top three list at the continental showpiece.
In the men's category, Nigeria earned a place on the podium following a hard fought victory over hosts Algeria 17-16 in the third place game to secure a deserved slot along with winners Mali and finalists Egypt.
