Novi Sad Al Wahda forced to make history after FIBA 3x3 World Tour Prague Masters seeding
30 Jul 2018
PRAGUE (FIBA 3x3 World Tour) - Three-time Prague Masters winners Novi Sad Al Wahda (SRB) will attempt to be the first team to go from the qualifying draw to the title in the Czech capital on August 4-5.
Novi Sad Al Wahda will have an extra challenge this year if they wanna add a 4th title in Prague. To return to the Czech Republic, the number one team in the world won the B33 Hungarian Quest earlier this year. However this event did not offer a direct path to the main draw of the Prague Masters, but a spot in the qualifying draw. This means the Serbian team will first need to go past Antwerp (Belgium) and Prague CBC (Czech Republic) before advancing to the pool stage. In other words, they may have to play 4 games on Day 1.
And if that qualifying draw wasn't enough, the winners will head to a Pool of Death Pool D with 2 other Top 10 teams in the world in Belgrade (SRB) and Humpolec Bernard (CZE)!
Like it is the case in all FIBA 3x3 competitions, the seeding is conducted automatically according to the 3x3 Individual World ranking (of the three best players from each team). According to FIBA regulations, teams are seeded as follows:
After winning the Utsunomiya Masters this last weekend, Liman Tesla Voda (SRB) were seeded in Pool A with new kids on the block Gagarin and Moscow Inanomo, both from Russia. It will be the first time that "Mr.Robot" & Co. meet their opponents in 3x3 history.
Pool B will show us new faces as well! Ralja Intergalactic (SRB) and Marienbad (CZE) will make their World Tour debut. Piran (SLO) will add some experience in the pool. Can the new teams steal the show in Prague?
Last but not least, Amsterdam InoxDeals (NED), who just finished 2nd in Utsunomiya and jumped to 7th overall in the Team Ranking, are back on the road against Brno Mach1nes and Gdansk Energa (POL), whom we hadn't seen yet on the Tour this season. Will Michael Hicks bring the crowd to their feet again?
