Dominique Jones named FIBA 3x3 World Tour regular season MVP

2 Nov 2019

UTSUNOMIYA (Japan) - Dominique Jones aka Disco Domo was named MVP of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour 2019 regular season by a panel of fans and players on November 2.

The MVP of the Lausanne Masters took his game to another level this season, leading NY Harlem to their first-ever World Tour Masters win this year in Switzerland on August 23-24. The American squad competed in 6 different Masters in 2019 (Mexico City, Prague, Lausanne, Debrecen, Montreal and Nanjing). They also made history by winning  6 Challengers in 2019, the most by any team since these international World Tour qualifiers were created.

The number 10 player in the World ranks 6th in scoring on the World Tour reason (170 points). His 7.4 points per game are second (only to Dusan Bulut) on the entire Tour. He is 4th in drives and in key assists. There's even 1 category where he ranks number 1. Nobody else but him had 3 Tissot Buzzer-Beaters on the season.

The spectacular Disco Domo won the players poll with 29% of the votes. The Liman duo of Stefan Kojic and Mihailo Vasic, followed with 16% apiece.

The Lithuanian Marijus Uzupis (Sakiai Gulbelè) won the fan vote with an impressive 60% score. Nauris Miezis and Karlis Lasmanis (both from Riga Ghetto) finished 2nd and 3rd with 9 and 7% of the votes respectively.

Interestingly the 5ft 10in (1.78m) dragster did not crack the top 5 in the fans vote and Uzupis did not make the top 5 of the players vote. Jones won the MVP award on the tie-breaker, which was the player vote.

The US star succeeds to Stefan Stojacic and Dusan Bulut, who won the trophy in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
