POITIERS (France) - Just a few days after a disappointing early exit at the Crelan FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2022, Germany redeemed themselves with their second consecutive FIBA 3x3 Women's Series stop win in Poitiers on June 28-29, 2022.

Four weeks after winning the first stop of the season in Tel Aviv, the reigning champs continued their domination of the Women's Series in France. The team stayed undefeated (5-0) and beat the United States (21-17) in the final.

The number one 3x3 player in the World Sonja Greinacher called game and finished with 6 points in a final where the Germans shot 5/9 from behind the arc. She was also named MVP of the tournament after leading the competition in Player Value. Cierra Burdick had a game-high 8 points in the final for USA, whose top scorer in Poitiers was the ankle-collector Linnae Harper.

Exciting, urban and innovative, 3x3 is inspired by several forms of streetball played worldwide and is considered the world’s number one urban team sport. Steered by FIBA, games see two teams of three players face off on a basketball half-court.

It was played successfully for the first time in international competition at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and since then has benefited from the launch of a yearly city-based FIBA 3x3 World Tour and national-team FIBA 3x3 World & Continental Cups.

On July 24, 2021, 3x3 made its Olympic debut at the Tokyo Games.
