The maths
The FIBA 3x3 Federation Ranking is calculated by adding up the FIBA 3x3 Individual World Ranking points of the Top 50 nationals with a confirmed play.fiba3x3.com account. It not only rewards the elite performances of the players but also the 3x3 activity in the territory of each National Federation. It is calculated daily at 12h00 UTC.
The concept
The position in the 3x3 Federation Ranking is driven by the number of players and their playing frequency. The more events are organised the more likely players will accumulate points and increase the national federation's standing in the Ranking.
Ranking and COVID-19
- All rankings are frozen as of April 1, 2020 until the suspension of competitions is lifted by FIBA or until any later date so communicated by FIBA.
- Ranking points will still be awarded for events taking place during this period but will only count towards the rankings - for the usual 12-month period - when rankings are unfrozen.
- The lifespan of the ranking points awarded for events that took place prior to the freeze will be extended by the duration of the freeze. However, this extension shall not exceed the date of October 1, 2021.

The role
It is the main criterion used to identify the teams qualified to the FIBA 3x3 World Cup and the Olympic Games (open and U-Categories).

The combined federation ranking is the geometric average of the ranking points of men and women (the square root of their product).
